According to a recent poll conducted by CollegeGrad.com, 69% of college job seekers either don't have a resume or say theirs needs help. Having a strong resume is critical when searching for an internship, part time job, or full time position after graduation. For an individual who is LGBT, whether to be “OUT” on the resume is often a difficult and personal decision. To assist, OUT for Work offers the free resume support services.
How Does it Work?
A resume won’t necessarily get you the job, but it may get you the interview.
Based on the success of the Career Fair Prep Session at our annual conference, OUT for Work has assembled a team of LGBTA HR professionals who are available to review and provide comment on your resume.
Our HR professionals will provide timely feedback in the following areas:
Is your resume visually appealing?
Is your resume complete, but not too long?
Does your resume contain all the relevant information?
Is your resume sharply focused to your job objective?
Are you using the proper format -- and do you need more than one format -- for your situation?
Does your resume have what it takes to get noticed by employers?
Is your resume free of errors?
- Use of Accomplishments
Have you identified one or more accomplishments for each experience?
- Use of Keywords/Action Verbs
Have you included keywords and action verbs in your resume?
